Freedom
So, I was let go from my job. Not that it was unexpected. I've been waiting for it about two months. For those who didn't know, I was working a NWEA... wonderful company with a great mission, and good benifits. We had some disagreements steming from what I think were bad management practices and hypocriacy. They really do have their heart in the right place and I wish the company and everyone in it the very best. I'm alot less stressed now. I didn't realize how much the job had been stressing me out lately. I was pretty much going to work and waiting to get fired.... When management is looking for reasons to let you go, it pretty much takes all the fun out of working. It's done now however and I'll take my new shiny Masters degree (MBA- Technology Management) and begin the search for my next big adventure. After a few weeks of kicking it and playing video games of course.... If anyone knows of anyplace hiring for a junior product manager, or business analyst let me know. |

Howdy, Ho
Not too much new in me life.... Applied for a call traffic controller position at my work. reading the description, I'm way qualified for the job.... hell, I'm acually more qualified for the position of Resource Director. But what the hell, it's a down economy. I'd be happy not being a slave to the phones. Been working on all manner fo fun tracking spreadsheets for work that will probally be ignored. All manner of fun VBA goodies packed in them. So, I've been keeping busy. There is a light at the end of the tunnel for all the people who are un or under employed. by around 2005 there will be far more jobs than people to fill them. The reason is that all the old baby boomers will start retiring in mass. So I advise everyone to buckle down, try to gather skills and wait another couple years.... |

You were Confucius!Your life began in 551 B.C. in the Chinese village of Zou. You worked as a teacher until age 35, when you became advisor to the exiled Duke Zhou for a time. Later you became a magistrate and even the Grand Minister of Justice of Lu Province for a time. After a while, you took to wandering with your handful of disciples and unfortunately found that high- ranking nobles in many courts were plotting to have you killed. You continued, however, to speak on morality and honesty until you finally retired and spent your remaining days writing. You died at the age of 72. Any need a 2 week gig?
I've been asked if I know anyone who wants a 2 week desktop support project position that could lead to a full time job. I'd take it but I can't trade off a full time secure job for a 2 week stint. I know there some unemployed qualified people out there needing a hookup... Let me know and I'll refer ya. They are looking to hire ASAP |

Back to work another week... Although I did have a great weekend... Went out to near where Missy's Cabin is and went hiking.. (I think I was about 1 mile away from the cabin at one point).. nice 2 mile hike with a small cave and wonderful view at the top. Odd that in the middle of nowhere I got perfect cell reception. Got better cell reception up there than I get in my house. Good hiking trip (minus the sunburnt shoulders) helps make up for the fact that everyone decided to go rafting on a MONDAY.... Oh well.. busy busy weekend coming up.. I have to do homework, go to Eugene and install 2 computers, go to the fair, and go explore a 15 mile long cave all day Sunday.... Not sure if I'll be able to fit it all in.. perhaps I should take Monday off.... *ponder* |

It's funny
God, I feel old. I take like a 3 month break without looking at the new computer hardware. Then I start to build a new computer for my mother. It always boggles me how they continue to improve on hardware at breakneak speeds. I mean the computer I'm building now cost around $1200 to put together and uses features I didn't know existed a month ago... I need to work in a real IT job again. Taking care of people's car problems is all good and whatever but I feel my brain leaking out of my ears a bit more each day. In an even more frustrating note. It looks like I have a bad memory stick for this computer. I mean when you buy crappy memory you can except it... But I bought top of the line Corsair dual matched 3200 memory... and one of the fricken sticks is bad.... just enough to make windows puke on the install. They are supposed to test it before it ever leaves Corsair. Oh well, now I get to go through all the fun RMA stuff, wheeeeeee. |

Life
Haven't updated in quite awhile. Mostly cause there was nothing exciting going on. Still working at Sitel, however it's not that bad. I managed to get myself on a special team that only takes inbound calls on Mondays. The rest of the week we pick up the old open cases of the agents that get fired and work them. Nice in that I can set my own pace. If they paid me like $10/hour more then I would consider staying indefinatly So I finally broke down and got DirecTV service with Tivo. I love my Tivo....... mmmmm Tivo. Already played around with hacking it. Got a 120 GB drive in it right now. I'm trying to decide if I want to play with video extraction. But then it's not really worth it unless I decide to hack DirecTV as well for all the free movies.... not sure if I acually want to put the time and effort into that yet. Ok, so this game review it really really cool... Everyone should read this. It looks like a kick ass game. Much better than the MUD I used to play. Better gameplay and special effects. Although it does tend to be equaly boring at times. http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/features/all/gamespotting/071103minusworld/1.html |

Good times
I had a great weekend.... Friday I went out and bought new some new clothes for work.. and picked up some break away work out pants and a wetsuit skin top for the foam party. Speaking of the foam party it was a BLAST. I had a wonderful time frolicking in the foam with Jessica, Cameron, Warren, Bruce, Tom, Emily... and several other wonderful people... good times.. good times.. I meant to go to JB's party on Saturday.. but I was still wiped out from the foam party as I drank a "wee" bit. So now my weekend is over and I have to buckle down and get stuff accomplished.. eep |

Ok, been awhile
Ok, it's been a bit since I updated... but my life was sort of stuck in a rut and I had not much to say. The biggest news I gots is that I finally got a job. Working customer service at Sitel.. $11/hour but I get full medical/vision/dental/401k/stock options/GM car rebates/sick days/vacation time... etc after 30 days.. Rock on. I'll be staying there till something nice in IT comes along. I got Nivarni and Cameron a job there as well... as with a $500/person referral that makes working with em that much sweeter. If anyone reading this is still looking for work... I would recommened that they try the place out... 7 weeks of training... at the very least it will give you time to find something else. call up 503-844-5164 if you are interested... on your application tell em Eldon Van Noy sent ya.. *wink* |

Wow
I had an amazing night yesterday... My friend Bruce came up from Eugene with a couple of his friends and we all went out to Panorama. Haven't been to that place in some time and they have made a few changes. $1 well drinks before 12 seem to get a few more people into the place so it's not quite so desolate before 1 am. But in any event I had a WONDERFUL time, my friend Erin showed up with her boyfriend Jamie.... I think that I don't have as much a problem with him as I thought I did... just a bit of a problem in the way she seems to have changed since dating him... *shrug* Warren was there and being as "Warrenish" as he normally is. Everyone drank and danced much.... Later in the night my wonderful friend Cameron showed up (looking great like always) with 3 other girls in tow including the mythical Lindsy who I've heard about forever yet never met. Of course with more new people around everyone had to drink that much more..... One of the highlights of the night was Bruce running around looking for a woman... any woman.... Silly Bruce... Anyway rest of the night sort of follows like this..... dancing, falling, wandering, flirting, grinding, dancing, defending, wandering, talking, sitting, flirting, talking, being silly, dancing, saying goodbye to all the wonderful people.... Haven't had fun like that for a long time and I was acually out till past 4 am.. wheeeeeeee Will have to do it again soon.... Ohhm there is a foam party coming up next month.... wheee foam... think it is happening on the 21st of March for those who are interested.. |

I had to put this one down...
Perhaps the funniest part is that this is sort of true.. hidden as all hell, but pretty damn close.

Your name alone strikes fear into others; but maybe, just maybe, there's a little vulnerability and weakness beneath that stoic, fierce exterior of yours.

Gah
Ever feel like the entire world is totally mind-numbingly dense?... I mean sometimes I look around at what's going on... attempt to remove myself and my emotions from any of it... and realize that the entire thing is totally stupid and insane... the true horror is that there is nothing I can do about it and soon find myself falling back into the mess of insanity and adding to the problem that it seems that no one sees. In other news.. *wink*... Started my MBA program yesterday. Not 100% how I feel about going back to school.. I'm excited and sort of distant at the same time. I'm sure it will be a good thing though... Even if I have to find a good way to come up with $1300 by my birthday (Feb 13th for people who didn't know) because of lame red tape spewed in all directions. I think going back to school is a great thing besides itself... I think it is giving me the much needed motivation to do other things. I've been a lazy bum far too long and was having problems breaking out of the rut I found myself in. I'm starting to feel much better now.. *grin* I hate unemployment.... Now they are saying I didn't keep in good enough contact with Sedona. I called Sedona twice since I was laid off, but I guess technically you are supposed to call them every single day and tell them your still looking for work. That is perhaps the lamest thing I have heard all day... My solution, I've set up my computer to call them at 3:30 am every morning and leave them a message telling them that I'm still looking for jobs and to call me if they have anything. Did I mention lately that I truly and deeply hate stupid rules more than anything else on this earth. I need to break the news that I'm going back to school to the unemployment office.... I'm dreading that... while they shouldn't deny be benifits because of it... (Class is only one night a week)... how much to you want to bet they will mess something up while I slowly starve to death.... Bleh... Silly world..... I think I will ignore it for a bit and go watch a movie... |
